Specifically both Carsan Cavalier boys, Ricky and Woody have been successful this year, as the shows now are dwindling for another year.

As puppies and yearling dogs at Carsan CKCS they have had great results with high placings in the awards.

All eyes and hopes are now on next years' progress as the boys mature into young happy healthy trained show dogs!

Since Ricky attended the Northern Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Championship Show just after his first birthday, the critique has been published - Here is a snippet for you to see ...

"Thank you to the Northern Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club for the honour of judging dogs at their 50th Championship Show, which was held in conjunction with Leeds General Championship show. Thank you also to the exhibitors for the fabulous entry of 70 dogs. I was very pleased with my main winners who I feel are lovely representatives of our breed.

Yearling. 1st. Walker’s Carsan Richie Rich

"This smartly marked tricolour had just turned 12 months. Liked his head and gentle expression. He was beautifully presented and is well marked with tan in all the correct places. Right amount of bone for his size. He initially pulled when walking but once his handler changed hands he settled down and move steadily both ways."

Yearling class (for my friends who are not so familiar) is for ages 12 to 24 months and since the difference in growth and development is evident, for master Ricky to win this class is a huge achievement.

Thank you so much to our judge, Elaine Berwick for thinking so highly of Ricky.

Back in August at 12 months old Ricky had a super day at Bournemouth Champ Show, the judges critique has been printed - thank you Tanya Ireland for thinking so highly of my boy, what a lovely critique.

Bournemouth Canine Association Championship Show-11th August 2024.

Yearling.

2nd. Walker's Carsan Richie Rich.

"Another quality heavy marked tricolour again in beautiful coat and condition. Presented perfectly.

I love his size, a true toy spaniel. He has a pretty but masculine head with dark eyes and black nose pigment, rich clear tan in all the right places, good ribs, level topline, moved out well both ways."

Thank You, to Tanya Ireland for thinking so much of Ricky ... Carsan Richie Rich.

September 14th was the Darlington Championship Show and, the Northern Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Championship Show at Ripon North Yorkshire....... "God's county" so I was more than happy driving through my old stomping ground.

Ricky had a fabulous day - under Jill Peak for Darlington CS and he won 2nd in Junior and 1st in Novice then, the second show Frank Kane judged the dogs. Ricky won 1st in Junior and 2nd behind Philip Lovel in Special Yearling! Over the moon is an under statement. So many kind comments about his progress over these past few months and as usual, no photo to show you. Rosettes in situ - for now - really do need to sort out a better display for them and some lovely suggestions from friends - thank you.

Junior. 1st place

"13 month-old tri he has quality and type with very good head piece and lovely expression.

Compact and well ribbed.

His front movement can tighten and his tail carriage a little high but he was a good winner for me here.

Presented in lovely form."

Thank You, to Frank Kane for thinking so highly of Ricky.

Some of the amazing attributes given to Ricky in his past five months of campaigning include:

"Excellent ears.. Excellent angulation .. Good outline..Very good neck..level topline..short loins..good dark eyes..shoulders well laid back..Moves true fore and aft..Lovely tricolour..Sweet gentle expression..Has a great balance..Smartly marked ..beautifully presented..good bone for his age..Quality marked tricolour..A true toy spaniel..rich clear tan in all the right places..good ribs..level topline..Good reach of neck..head well balanced..good bone..body well muscled..quality and type..lovely expression..compact..well ribbed..a good winner for me here."

It's fair to say both Ricky and Woody are of a "type" whereby both boys are very similar in attributes, apart from colouring.

Woody also has had great success ... a few examples.

26th May West of England Champ Show at 10 months old - 1st in puppy class.

Critique: "Lovely outline on this 10 month old Blenheim puppy when settled. He has a well proportioned head with evenly divided markings, with just the right amount of fill and cushioning for his age. Well tapered muzzle, black nose and generous lovely round dark eyes surrounded by black eye-rims.

His ears are well set and well feathered, attractively framing his correct head. He is going to have a lovely coat which is well on the way now.

It is well-broken with rich tan markings. He is well balanced in body, short coupled across the loin and, has good front and rear angulation. He has a good reach of neck giving that extra elegance. When he moves, it is true in all directions, holding a level topline."

Thank You to Mrs M Mynott for thinking so highly of Woody, Carsan Hot'n Tasty.

30th June Windsor Champ Show at 11 months old - 1st in puppy class,

Critique: "Attractive Blenheim puppy, who took a little time to get into his stride but who then moved freely and cleanly. He can stand a little overstretched and appear a touch long cast but, he is actually built on sounds lines ensuring a characteristic profile when he collects himself. The head is appealing with a flattish skull, a shallow stop, large dark eyes and correctly set ears. He will fill his frame in time but displayed good underlying structure and was in fine fettle. Mr R Millar.

Thank You to Mr R Millar for thinking so highly of Woody, Carsan Hot'n Tasty.

More critiques to follow, but one thing is clear, the boys have a great future in the ring.

Goes without saying, we have high hopes of their show journey next year!!!
